The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently recommended voluntary annual HIV screening for all patients aged 13-64. For pregnant women who reside within jurisdictions with elevated incidence of HIV or AIDS among women aged 15-45 years, however, CDC recommends that an additional HIV test be given during the third trimester, preferably <36 weeks of gestation. These jurisdictions are highlighted in the map and include: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
