Learning Labs - St. John's Regional Health Center

St. John’s Hospital is an 866-bed, not-for-profit, acute care facility located in Springfield Missouri. They provide health care services in southwest Missouri and host a service area that also extends into northwest Arkansas.  St. John's Emergency Trauma Center is the only state-designated Level I trauma center for adult and pediatric patients in the region.

The hospital is part of an integrated health system that also includes five smaller hospitals, 430 employed physicians and a health plans operation.

St. John’s established its palliative care services approximately two years ago.  It follows a consultative model and is physician-driven.  The multidisciplinary team uses a variety of assessment tools to ensure that the program is patient-goal oriented.  The team markets the services and provides education to physicians and hospital staff, and offers multicultural programs, advance directives, and bereavement resources to the community.
