HRET has convened a National Steering Committee of more than 20 experts in hospital administration and public health to illustrate “why” and “how” hospitals and health systems can be better integrated with the public health system.  Over a 15-month period, the Steering Committee will develop a framework to guide how the field thinks about the role of hospitals in improving the public’s health.

Using current system-level recommendations from the Institute of Medicine, World Health Organization, Public Health Institute and others, the Steering Committee has been tasked to develop a call-to-action for peers and policymakers of how an acute care organization and culture can engage in health promotion and disease prevention.
