Biography: Klaus Madsen

Klaus has worked with the Texas Health Institute since July, 1997.

In his role as policy analyst for the Institute, Klaus provides research, analysis and process expertise to Institute projects such as the Shared Vision Project, a forum for leaders to build consensus on achieving access, effectiveness, and efficiency in health care in Texas. Klaus is also the project director for the Landscape Project, a web-based community health data system.

He also works as the sustainability consultant to eight projects in East Texas funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation under the Southern Rural Access Program (SRAP), a major effort to improve access to care in medically underserved rural communities.

Appointed by Texas Commissioner of Health Eduardo Sanchez, Klaus serves on the executive committee of the Texas State Strategic Health Partnership. The public-private partnership is the first systemic change effort in Texas to coordinate community and statewide resources for a focused approach to prevention and community health improvement. 

Klaus serves, by Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) appointment to the CDC-sponsored National Steering Committee to Understand and Advance the Role of Hospitals in Improving the Public's Health.

Klaus received his B.Sc. in Business, Language and Culture from  Copenhagen Business School. Prior to joining the Institute, he was a graduate exchange student at the McCombs School of Business at University of Texas at Austin. He is Masters candidate in the National Executive Masters Program in Public Health at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
