Biography: Jeffrey R. Taylor
Jeffrey Taylor is the Executive Director of the Michigan Public Health Institute, a non-profit research, development and education organization with offices in Okemos Michigan, a position he has held since February 1994.
Previously, Dr. Taylor held positions at the Michigan Department of Public Health, including Chief, Division of Research and Development, and Chief, Division of Maternal and Child Health.
Dr. Taylor received his BA and Masters from the University of Washington in Seattle. He earned his doctorate from Michigan State University in Ecological/Community Psychology.
Currently, Dr. Taylor serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the National Network of Public Health Institutes. He is a board member of the Michigan Association of Health Plans Foundation, and participates on advisory committees for the Center for Healthcare Effectiveness Research at Wayne State University, the General Preventive Medicine Residency Program at the University of Michigan, the Michigan Health Policy Forum at Michigan State University, and the Committee to Develop Academic Health Departments at the University of Michigan.
In December 2004, Dr. Taylor served on a Robert Wood Johnson panel at the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine to make recommendations for establishing a national accreditation program for state and local governmental public health agencies. He is currently serving on two other national panels, one on communicating the role of hospitals in public health, and a second to establish governance structures for accrediting state and local public health agencies.
