Michael is responsible for HRET’s overall educational strategy across multiple issue areas, with an emphasis on delivering to the field practical, evidence-informed tools and services to improve health and health care.

Michael also leads HRET’s Association for Community Health Improvement (ACHI), which convenes and supports leaders from the health care, public health, community and philanthropic sectors to help achieve shared community health goals.  He plans and delivers ACHI’s educational and peer networking services to hundreds of community health professionals working on access to care, chronic disease prevention and community benefit.

Michael helps set HRET's overall community health agenda, leads a CDC-funded youth obesity prevention project, and serves on HRET’s community health and community benefit technical assistance team. 

From 1997 to 2002, Michael directed the Accelerating Community Transformation and National Outcomes Network programs for The Healthcare Forum Foundation.  He previously held positions with the Chicago/Cook County Ambulatory Care Council and the non-profit social research firm Metro Chicago Information Center.

Michael holds an M.A. degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Sociology from Rutgers University.
