Healthcare today must learn how to rapidly transform care delivery by adopting new technology and innovative ideas into daily practices with a focus on improved quality, safety, patient outcomes, and reduced cost. Billings Clinic, a unique Integrated Medical Foundation Model located in a community setting, is emerging as a national leader known for transforming multiple parts of its organization to provide better care. Billings is also known for utilizing information technology and innovative clinical effectiveness strategies to build a regional network that serves both urban and rural needs in four states.

Billings Clinic's executives and clinical leaders will describe how a well-planned and executed transformational strategy can produce high-impact outcomes by focusing on the following critical success factors:

  1. Renewing the organization around a culture of service
  2. Harnessing collaboration to increase clinical quality and patient safety
  3. Leveraging technology to advance clinical improvement and strategic relationships
  4. Integrating research into the community to enhance professional practice and elevate healthcare delivery

Learning Objectives/Key Deliverables
This Action Learning Lab will provide content and discussions to enable you to:

  • Explain how leadership impacts transformational efforts
  • Understand the importance of a service culture in facilitating healthcare transformation
  • Expand the influence of transformational efforts through research and technology
  • Share specific examples of collaborative efforts that improve patient safety and quality of care
  • Apply the Billings experience to your own organization and begin your planning on site

Who Should Attend
Include your quality and patient safety leadership team in this team- and action-focused program. You will have a unique opportunity to interact with host-site senior leaders as well as frontline innovators and implementers.

Continuing Education Credit
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Health Forum and the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET). Health Forum is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Health Forum designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8.25 hours in Category 1 Credit toward the American Medical Association (AMA) Physicians Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit actually spent on the educational activity.

Health Forum is authorized to award 8.25 hours of pre-approved Category II (Non-ACHE) continuing education credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward Category II credit should indicate their attendance when submitting application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.

Health Forum is a CEP approved by the California State Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) provider Number 12650 for 8.25 contact hours. Check with your local state board for reciprocity.

Special E-Learning Feature
Participants can participate free of charge in an electronic learning community for two months after the meeting.  Participants who wish to do so can communicate with each other and the faculty by e-mail to converse about specific content that was presented, pose additional questions and share successes and challenges. Further details will be presented at the meeting on June 28-29.
