The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks and their patients and communities.  We are currently seeking a Senior Researcher in Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET).

Purpose

Participate in HRET research activities and develop department's capacity to analyze claims and other health-related data.  Collaborate with HRET research staff on projects, serving as investigator, task leader, research manager on grant-funded research.  Author study reports and journal articles, develop grant proposals and serve as content expert.

Essential Functions

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research. Design and conduct analyses for health care projects. Draft interview protocols and write survey questions. Conduct surveys, interviews and focus groups.
• Lead project activities utilizing team meetings, timelines and project materials.
• Lead data analysis activities utilizing statistical software
• Author research reports and peer-reviewed articles. Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences.
• Develop contract proposals and project budgets. Oversee applications for IRB and OMB clearance to assure confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Public Policy, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, or a social science degree with a healthcare focus is required. Ph.D. is preferred.
• 5-7 years health care research experience, working on funded grants with major funding agencies is required.
• Experience with statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS or Stata is required.
• Strong quantitative analysis as it applies to large healthcare databases
