The Health Research and Educational Trust, AHA and two dozen key partners plan to develop an education program to promote environmentally friendly hospitals. Representatives from the Cleveland Clinic, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Kaiser Permanente, Catholic Healthcare West and UPMC joined JCAHO, CDC, the EPA and other health and environmental organizations to identify opportunities to advance health care’s environmental leadership. The effort is being funded by lead sponsor Hospira, Inc. and by ARAMARK Healthcare. Later this year, HRET will unveil a collaborative green health agenda that incorporates education, training, research and outreach, and that values patient safety and building healthier and safer communities.
